Tyler’s disappearance occurred in the early hours of February 24, 2019, while he and his wife, Brittany Davis, were in Columbus celebrating her 23rd birthday. The unusual circumstances surrounding his disappearance have kept the case in the public eye and continue to generate interest nationwide.
Birthday Celebration Ends in Mystery
Tyler, 29, and Brittany traveled from their home in Wilmington, Ohio, to the Hilton Columbus at Easton Town Center for an overnight getaway. The couple, who shared a 20-month-old son, left their child with Tyler’s parents while they celebrated Brittany’s birthday.
Before the trip, Tyler had reportedly worked six straight days of long shifts, leaving him physically tired. After checking into the hotel on February 23, the couple met a longtime friend and spent the evening visiting several nightlife destinations in the Easton area, including Bar Louie, Adobe Gila’s, and The Dollhouse, where they stayed until closing time around 2 a.m.
The Last Time Tyler Was Seen
According to Brittany, Tyler fell asleep during the Uber ride back to the hotel. When they arrived shortly after 3:20 a.m., he appeared confused and believed they were at the wrong hotel. Frustrated, he walked away from the property instead of going inside.
Although Brittany initially intended to follow him, Tyler’s friend volunteered to do so while Brittany returned to the hotel room to charge her phone. When she came back downstairs about ten minutes later, neither Tyler nor the friend was there.
At approximately 3:37 a.m., Tyler called Brittany and told her he was simply taking a walk around the block and would return shortly. The friend later returned alone, saying Tyler was just trying to calm down and would be back soon.
Final Phone Calls
As Tyler remained missing, Brittany repeatedly attempted to contact him. Around 4:10 a.m., Tyler answered and reportedly told her he was walking through a wooded area, could see the hotel, and expected to return within five minutes.
Roughly a minute later, he placed another call, but it lasted only a few seconds before disconnecting without conversation. Brittany immediately tried calling him back, but his phone went straight to voicemail.
Those calls remain the last confirmed contact with Tyler Davis.
Search Continues
After Tyler failed to return, Brittany contacted hospitals and police while also searching the surrounding area with the help of a local friend. Investigators with the Columbus Division of Police launched an extensive missing person investigation that has included ground searches, K-9 teams, drones, surveillance footage analysis, interviews, and tips from the public.
